GenAlEx 6.51b2

:: DESCRIPTION

GenAlEx (Genetic Analysis in Excel) is a user-friendly cross-platform package for population genetic analysis that runs within Microsoft Excel(TM). GenAlEx enables population genetic data analysis of codominant, haploid and binary genetic data providing analysis tools applicable to plants, animals and microorganisms. GenAlEx was originally developed as a tool to assist us in our teaching of population genetic analysis, and is now widely used by university teachers and researchers around the world. In GenAlEx 6, we are pleased to introduce many new features for both teachers and researchers.

imDEV 1.4.2 – omics data exploration and visualization in Excel

imDEV 1.4.2

:: DESCRIPTION

imDEV (Interactive modules for Data Exploration and Visualization) is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet embedded application providing an integrated environment for the analysis of omics data through a user-friendly interface. Individual modules enable interactive and dynamic analyses of large data by interfacing R’s multivariate statistics and highly customizable visualizations with the spreadsheet environment, aiding robust inferences and generating information rich data visualizations. This tool provides access to multiple comparisons with false discovery correction, hierarchical clustering, principal (PCA) and independent component analyses (ICA), partial least squares regression (PLS) and discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), through an intuitive interface for creating high quality two and a three-dimensional visualizations including scatter plot matrices, distribution plots, dendrograms, heat maps, biplots, trellis biplots and  correlation networks.

HapYDive – Excel Plugin for Y-STR Haplotype Diversity Calculation

HapYDive

:: DESCRIPTION

HapYDive is a software for Y-STR haplotype diversity calculation.This program allows fast and reliable determination of which Y-STRs are the most informative by evaluating all possible combinations.With the HapYDive it is possible to analyse any set of Y markers up to a maximum of 20, with a minimum number of 4 markers fixed for calculations. Results on the application of this program to different population samples and sizes and with a certain combination of Y-STR markers are presented and discussed, together with its usefulness mainly to the forensic community.

MapDraw 2.1 – Excel Macro for Drawing Genetic Linkage Maps

MapDraw 2.1

:: DESCRIPTION

MapDraw contens a Excel macro to draw genetic linkage maps based on given linkage data. MAPMAKER is one of the most widely used computer software package for constructing genetic linkage maps.However,the PC version,MAPMAKER 3.0 for PC,could not draw the genetic linkage maps that its Macintosh version,MAPMAKER 3.0 for Macintosh,was able to do.Especially in recent years,Macintosh computer is much less popular than PC.Most of the geneticists use PC to analyze their genetic linkage data.So a new computer software to draw the same genetic linkage maps on PC as the MAPMAKER for Macintosh to do on Macintosh has been crying for.Microsoft Excel,one component of Microsoft Office package,is one of the most popular software in laboratory data processing.Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is one of the most powerful functions of Microsoft Excel.Using this program language,we can take creative control of Excel,including genetic linkage map construction,automatic data processing and more.In this paper,a Microsoft Excel macro called MapDraw is constructed to draw genetic linkage maps on PC computer based on given genetic linkage data.Use this software,you can freely construct beautiful genetic linkage map in Excel and freely edit and copy it to Word or other application.

BioExcel 2.0 – Microsoft Research Biology Extension for Excel

BioExcel 2.0

:: DESCRIPTION

BioExcel is for biologists who are interested in, or already using, Microsoft Excel for their research. The extensible nature of Excel lends itself to the creation of a custom ribbon component labeled “Bioinformatics” in the top menu bar of the application. Through this customization, all the usual features of Excel remain available, but the biologist now has access to additional dedicated bioinformatics features as well. The Biology Extension can also be extended by developers to use other features in .NET Bio. Developers can write custom bioinformatics applications by using the libraries of .NET Bio and can add UI elements for those applications to the Biology Extension.

Haplotyper 1.0 – Genotype Format Data from an Excel File to a Format of Arlequin

Haplotyper 1.0

:: DESCRIPTION

Haplotyper (Genotype Transposer) is an excel macro that will format data from an Excel spreadsheet to a format ready to be used by the program “Arlequin“, which will reconstruct haplotype frequencies within the population, based on the genotypes given.  After which, other macros will extract the haplotype information, calculate linkage disequilibrium between markers, and prepare an input sheet for the “GOLD” program, which makes a graphical display of this data.  Then, a last macro can reconstruct the haplotypes of each individual in the population, using a maximum likelihood method and the haplotypes present in the population as proposed by Arlequin.
