GenePool 6 / Swimbots 1.0 – Artificial Life Simulation

GenePool 6

:: DESCRIPTION

GenePool is a computer simulation where hundreds of virtual organisms evolve swimming skills. These organisms are called “swimbots”. You can set mate preference criteria and thus influence what the swimbots consider as attractive qualities in potential mates. The most attractive swimbots get chosen most often to have little babies, and so their genetic building blocks propogate to future generations. Eventually, swimbots get better at pursuing each other, competing for food, and becoming babes to other swimbots. Local gene pools emerge which compete for sex and food (for energy to have more sex). Eventually a dominant sub-population takes over.

Floys/iFloys/eFloys – Flocking Artificial Life Creatures

Floys/iFloys/eFloys

:: DESCRIPTION

Floys belong to the flocking Alife creatures variety, sharing with them the social tendency to stick together, and the lifelike emergent behavior which is based on a few simple, local rules. They differ from most other Alife flocking (Boids-type) implementations by being territorial animals that defend their territory against intruders. They are implemented as Java applets.

iFloys (Individualistic Floys) look like ordinary Floys, but they are basically different: While ordinary Floys are all of the same kind, sharing the same properties, iFloys can have an individual character. Each iFloy possesses its own traits, defined by a single chromosome. In this applet you can assign different traits to different iFloys, and watch the effect on the emergent behavior.

eFloys (evolving Floys), are social, territorial, evolving artificial life creatures.

DarwinPond 2005 – Artificial Life Simulation

Darwin Pond 2005

:: DESCRIPTION

Darwin Pond is an imaginary gene pool, a primordial puddle of genetic surprises. More technically, Darwin Pond is an Artificial Life Simulation: a virtual world exhibiting the emergence of life-like behaviors. But it’s more than just a fun and informative thing to watch, you can participate in this artificial life simulation by building scenarios and setting up experiments.
